artspring arts festival, ” Corona Version”: It is time to try out new formats. Hardly scheduled, almost on hold – the Pankow artspring berlin art festival with over 230 participating artists* will take place from 9 May to 7 June 2020 despite Corona. In a different way.

For visual artists, visibility is all the more important in this special and difficult time. The team of organizers has therefore printed the artspring-newspaper in a ten times higher circulation and is distributing it with the Berliner Woche to 100.000 inhabitants* of the district. This newspaper contains information about all participating artists* and the artspring film festival.
The initiators of artspring, Julia Brodauf and Jan Gottschalk, describe the current situation: “Of course we had to cancel all vernissages and events as well as our info shop in the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden. For this we have planned an online-festival: in May there will be digital readings, performances and podcasts on our website, artists* will give you insights into their studios and you can look forward to at least one online concert. The artspring film festival, the artspring nale – in cooperation with the Lichtblick cinema – is also going online. It will start on 9 May. We cannot yet predict an exact programme – it will be experimental in any case. If you are not allowed to come to the artists, the artists will come to you!”

With a 7 m long shop window of the Heinrich Böll Library artspring gets a real window to the world. Two group exhibitions (in the Janusz-Korczak-Library and the Parkklinik Weißensee) provide an up-to-date overview of the participating art producers* in Pankow, Weißensee and Prenzlauer Berg. “Hanging still”, these exhibitions will be accessible to interested visitors and can form a basis for walks and tours of the open studios. The plan is to continue to invite people directly to the weekend of the Open Studios on 6 and 7 June 2020, if this is possible and sensible at the planned time. The organisers hope to be able to welcome a large number of interested visitors to the studios – not all at once, at a distance and in compliance with all hygiene regulations.
