From 27th to 30th September 2018, POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair will be presenting 74 selected international galleries with their most striking artistic positions in contemporary and modern art as part of the Berlin Art Week.
Since the founding of the POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair in 2014, the organizers have been pursuing a concept that combines a formally classic exhibition structure with the aspiration to expand the range of displayed art in Berlin. Since then, not only contemporary art has been presented at the position fairs, but also those of classical modernity or earlier eras. Established artistic positions can be seen alongside works by young artists, cross-connections can be made visible and visitors to Berlin Art Week are invited to discover and rediscover. The focus is primarily on the quality, relevance and timeliness of the presented art and with it the important and good work of the presenting galleries as observers, mediators and promoters.
For its fifth edition, POSITIONS Berlin has long drawn a symbol of freedom and a stage for cosmopolitanism and internationalism in Hangar 4 of Berlin Tempelhof Airport, the largest monument in Europe, the location of the Berlin Airlift and more than 50 years of civil aviation Exchange is. In September, it will be turned into a hotspot for art and with its monumental architecture and eventful history will provide an auratic environment for artistic presentations.
